General Operations
The general operations account supports the whole of First Church’s vibrant worship, community life and ministries. Contributing to general operations ensures that your gift can be used where it’s most needed.
Reparations
We are committed to the ongoing work of making reparations for colonization and racial injustice. Our 2025 reparations funds supported five organizations:
- Anishinabe Academy—a community school engaging students through an American Indian, Indigenous lens, with a Native-centered curriculum, and through Ojibwe and Dakota language
- Makoce Ikicupi (Land Recovery)—seeking to bring Dakota relatives home, re-establish Dakota spiritual and physical relationship with our homeland, and ensure the ongoing existence of Dakota People
- All Nations Indian Church—a UCC church serving the American Indian community through worship, community service, and cultural preservation
- Minnesota Freedom Fund—working to end wealth-based detention and power build with community to dismantle the systems that turn poverty into punishment while expanding access to freedom, safety, and dignity for all Minnesotans
- Clark-Grace UCC—an intentionally multicultural church in St. Paul whose predecessor congregations include the first African-American United Church of Christ congregation in Minnesota
Monthly Special Offerings
Monthly special offerings are dedicated to various needs in our local and wider community.
October: Neighbors in Need
The Neighbors in Need offering supports ministries of justice and compassion, with one-third of the offering given to the Council for American Indian Ministries and the remaining two-thirds supporting various justice initiatives, advocacy efforts, and direct service projects through grants. This is one of four special offerings of the United Church of Christ (UCC).
November: Southeast Seniors
Southeast Seniors is a neighborhood nonprofit organization founded in 1988 that coordinates services to help people 65 and older live well at home. They coordinate in-home services, help with grocery and meal delivery, host social and educational events, and more, all with the goal of keeping older adults thriving at home in their community. The Southeast Seniors offices are located on the second floor at First Church.
