We got a grant! Decker Memorial Window to be Restored

We are very pleased to announce that First Church has received another grant from the Minnesota Historical Society, supported by the Clean Water, Land and Legacy Amendment. This grant supports the rehabilitation of the Decker Memorial window, which was designed and built by Tiffany studios, and which has been crated since its removal in 2019 during the I-35W pedestrian bridge construction project. The Decker window will be transported to Gaytee Palmer studio where it will be fully restored. We anticipate that the window will be reinstalled in the Sanctuary sometime in the first half of 2025.

This project concludes the restoration, preservation, and/or rehabilitation of all ten of the art glass windows on the east side of Sanctuary. Our persistent and steady work to restore these windows is a true gift for the next century of church members and Minnesota citizens.

We are tremendously thankful to Jean Chagnon, who has spearheaded the grant application process, and whose tireless work and deep knowledge has benefitted our church building and community in so many ways.
